Parks Botanic Garden in Bali Usada
The uniqueness of Bali Botanical Gardens could not be separated from the presence of Usada Park. In Sanskrit Ausadhi, Usada means containing medicinal plants. Area of the park area of 1600 square meters it is devoted to collecting more than 300 plants (derived from various districts in Bali) which efficacious in the treatment of Balinese traditional.
Knowledge of traditional medicine that originated in India which spread to Bali along with the development of Hindu religion in the 5th century AD. Knowledge is then passed on from generation to generation through the ejection usada (manuscripts treatment systems, medicines and traditional treatments that were written on papyrus or palm leaves).
In the park Usada you can get a brief description of the various plants that function in a traditional Balinese treatments, such as gotu kola is used for the treatment of refreshing mouth, add memory, increase appetite, first aid on cuts or bruises. Or purnajiwa (clump of plants which are found in mountainous areas) is efficacious as blood cough medicine, tonic, aprodisiak, diuretics, and migraine medications. There is also a small shop in the middle of the park that sell some parts of the plant is dried, so that can be directly processed into a nutritious drink by the community.
